Spring Makeup Fling (Apr 01, 2008)

Sparkles and Twirls!! (Dec 01, 2007)

Sparkles and Twirls!!!
I LOVE holiday season, I know it's exhausting at times, but pour yourself some bubbly whether it be Perrier or Prosecco and soldier on!! Tis the season to socialize and look gorgeous while you do it!!
Of course, you MUST have THE LOOK . . . and here are the best for Holiday 2007.
The Smokey Eye is THE EYE this year...but remember...you should pair it with a subdued lip [more about this later on]...no competition on your own face! Then your entire lid needs a base to hold onto your look all night. I like Mac's Prep + Prime Eyes [medium] or Laura Mercier's Eye Primer in wheat - these are two great ones. Then blend a medium shadow e.g. # 11 from Armani, MAC Satin Taupe or Prescriptives' Caviar on your entire eyelid up to your crease using a large shadow brush. Now you can layer on a darker shadow such as MAC Graphology or Greensmoke or Armani Maestro #17 in the crease and the outside third of your eyelid. Now you are ready for your liner. You will need a good black liner like MAC Cream Liner in BlackTrack, Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Graphite Shimmer, or these fabulous pencils from Prescriptives: Reflective Eyeliners in Beaming Black or Beaming Willow. Whether you use a gel or a pencil, make sure you use a smudger [The Perfect Brush has a Fantastic one], to blend the line into the shadow for a real smokey effect. You will then want to add a little of the darkest powder under the bottom eyelid two thirds of the way in.
The perfect pairing with the smokey eye is a subdued lip with a bit of shimmer. In my fall blog I talked about the greatest lipsticks to create that perfect lip. Don't forget YSL Gloss #2 for a great finish. The gold flecks are divine. You may however, feel that you need more definition on those kissable lips and there are tons of options out there. Some of the great new lipsticks for this season that will go with everyone's skin tone are Laura Mercier Passion Fruit layered with Rose or Tea Rose. These Holidays favorites just released from Prescriptives: Rose Glow, Iced Plum or Bare. And these are moisturizing lipsticks for those in need.
If you are daring and wanting to wear that hot red lip that you've been seeing in all the magazines and on the celebs...a few guidelines... DON'T wear a heavy eye with the bright red lips, instead, go for great lashes and liner, tons of mascara and here's a list of my favorite reds. If you have yellow in your skin, look for a red lipstick with a blue undertone. Such as MAC Ruby Woo or MAC Red. If in fact your skin has a pink glow to it try Viva Glam #1 or Dubonnet. Another all time fave for the holidays is MAC Sophisto or Budding Plum - for those who love their plums hot and sexy.
Glimmer and Shimmer for those cheeks and lips from Armani's Holiday Collection...their gorgeous Black Gem Palette gives you a shimmer highlight with a bronzer/powder duo. They have two delicious new glosses #42 and #41 for that holiday sparkle.
And skin darling...don't forget to buff off those flakes in the shower and finish with a glowing moisturizer. Origins has their Ginger Glimmer at this time of year, totally fabulous and Scott Barnes Body Bling - need I say more?
Enjoy your holidays and keep watch for a FABULOUSLY SPECTACULAR Makeup Event pairing The Perfect Brush and Armani Cosmetics at the perfect location...details to follow. I'll be sending you a 'Hold the Date' email in the next short while to save this night in February. Can't wait to see you all then!!
