Spring Makeup Fling (Apr 01, 2008)
A word to all from your makeup queen - Spring has sprung... almost. We don't care what it looks like outside - we've had enough! Time to shake off that dead skin and those white flakes on your legs... get yourself to the mall, it's time for some Spring makeup.!! Read on and get happy and gorgeous, Spring will be here and you need to be ready!

Hi - it must be Spring because I am soo excited about my latest finds for skin and makeup. Can't wait to share with you some of the fabulous new products I picked up on my travels.
Beginning with the quest for Perfect Skin and I do mean - how to cure the dry and cracked evils of winter - I have two new faves that are absolutely beyond. Avene Compensating (Shoppers Drug Mart) is the
first moisturizer that I have used up in its entirety EVER... I was
scraping the jar! The texture and formula are light... but they do a
fabulous job to combat the drying effects of winter. And it won Best of
Elle Beauty. CreamDior Capture R60/80 Ultimate Wrinkle Restoring Cream (Holt Renfrew) is like a drink
for your skin. I can honestly say that I have seen a difference in my
skin since I started using it and I ADORE this product.
Onto Makeup - its going to be a gorgeous, exciting season! Its all about sheers, translucent and brights... and they transform incredibly on your skin.
Cheeks are the MOST important focus this Spring. You don't need to buy all new makeup, just add a few new products and rethink application - more on this later! The look for cheeks is a summery, Geisha-type flush. These blushes will add a translucent flush to your face but still give you the color you want. Every designer put the emphasis on cheeks, because after all it makes us look younger to have that young girls' flush in our cheeks. Estee Lauder Tender Blush in Pink Kiss, YSL Pop Blush in #2. (added bonus highlighter is built in!!) But don't forget about bronzer - still important to get that gorgeous bronzy look without going into the sun. There's some really new fabulous products this season... fake a healthy glow with Max Factor ColorGenius Blush in 'Spices'. Eyes - the trend in eyes is to layer color and use graduated tones on the lid and eye area. Remember those palettes with 3 colors... light, medium and dark... just different levels of intensity but all within the same color family. Anything metallic is huge, but this summer you can wear greens, pinks and silver/grey. YSL Eyecolor Touch in #4 Taupe and #2 Dove Grey will drive you wild! Hard to find - but 'hound' the counter people until they get it for you. I also discovered the Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil in 'ME Black 01' and 'ME Blue 03' - water-resistant but can smudge easily - they are just GORGEOUS.!(Again, order from Holts in Vancouver and they will send to you at the Bloor counter). I also love from Guerlain their Le 2 Mascara... Awesome!!
Lips - you can never forget your lips... even if you just want a sheer gloss or a stain with a bit more color. There's some really exciting lipsticks out there this season. For rosy lips - Dior's Uncontrollable Pink, Elizabeth Arden Exceptional Lipstick in Pink Vibrations, Lancome Color Fever Shine in Pixel Pink, Shu Uemura #334 is spectacular and Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited in Toki. Three more that I love for Spring are MAC Slimshine Lipsticks in 'Rock Out' and 'Pleasing'. And of course, MAC 'Bombshell'.
If you feel like going nude this summer... Calvin Klein Luxury Cream Lipstick in Naivete. (Available at the Bay.) For a stain... L'Oreal Infallible Never Fail Lipgloss in 16 shades. According to the company it stays 6 hour.. but we'd be happy with 3.
Instant tan in a can (not self-tanner) Model Co. Tan Airbrush in a Can (on-line) or Guerlain Terra Cotta Bronzing Powder Mist. (Sephora).
*Anti-aging Quick Fix: Tri-Actiline Instant Deep Wrinkler Filler (Shoppers Drug Mart).
* Skin cleanser and makeup Remover all in one - Bioderma - available at PharmaPlus - a European Secret comes to Canada! Great for travelling.
